Harvest Haliburton is hosting a Food and Agriculture Economic Development Forum on Tuesday, March 5 at the Minden Community Centre.

The day-long interactive event will offer attendees the opportunity to learn about exciting food and agriculture-related projects underway in Haliburton County, and to have a voice in shaping the future of the County’s local food sector.

The forum is designed for:

Municipal Planners and Councillors, Economic Developers, Food Producers/Farmers, Food Processors, Retailers, Restaurateurs, Food Tourism Operators and Promoters, Environmentalists, Eaters, and anyone interested in creating a sustainable food system for our region.

The agenda will include:

A Taste of Haliburton’s Local Food Assets – Bite-sized presentations highlighting the diversity of great local food-related organizations, initiatives and enterprises

Keynote Address – A presentation by OMAFRA’s Heather Candler and Stephen Duff outlining the tools and strategies available to help the County’s local food sector thrive

Lunch – A delicious lunch showcasing ingredients from Haliburton County’s many primary producers

Enough Talk – Time for ACTION – The afternoon session will be an interactive workshop during which attendees will have the opportunity to help develop an Action Plan for ensuring that Haliburton County’s local food sector continues to thrive
