Unpacking Food Literacy at NRC’s 2018 Forum — Early Bird Rate & Call for Abstracts

Unpacking Food Literacy will be the focus of this year’s Nutrition Resource Centre Forum, taking place on Thursday, November 15 in Toronto at the Chestnut Conference Centre (89 Chestnut St).
Early bird registration is now open, as well as a call for abstracts for those that want to take part in the forum.
The full-day forum will bring together health professionals, service providers, educators, students, researchers, food literacy champions and government decision-makers to showcase innovative programs and initiatives, and to share the latest research, resources and tools that help consumers make healthier food choices.
Attendees will learn:
- how food literacy is defined and its components
- the current state of food literacy and what programming is happening in Ontario and beyond
- the latest research and strategies to impact and evaluate behaviour change through food literacy programs, policies and interventions

For anyone interested in submitting an abstract, the forum is looking for submissions in the following areas related to food literacy:
- Emerging research and or evaluations
- Policies initiatives at the municipal/regional, provincial/territorial or federal level
- Programs targeted at young children or marginalized/at risk populations
- Initiatives for creating supportive healthy eating environments
- Innovations in shifting cultural food attitudes and norms
- Consumer/community engagement strategies
- Initiatives to increase collaboration among food literacy players
