Farm to School Impact Continues to Grow in Canada: 11 More Ontario Schools Receive Grants

Farm to Cafeteria Canada (F2CC) and the Whole Kids Foundation (WKF) have announced that the second round of Farm to School Canada grants will see 33 schools across Canada, specifically in Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, New Brunswick and Newfoundland, receive grants valued at up to $10,000 each.

Like the first round of grants delivered in 2016, the funding will allow these schools to engage their students in growing, harvesting, cooking, preserving, purchasing and serving healthy local foods, where it will be enjoyed in a salad bar meal service at the schools — bringing together important hands-on food education, quality student nutrition, and support for our local food and farmers.
A big congratulations to the 11 schools in Ontario that will be raising the salad bar in their classrooms and cafeterias:
- Bruce Peninsula Elementary, Middle and Secondary School – Lion’s Head, ON
- Carleton Village and Wellness Academy (Elementary) – Toronto, ON
- Elizabeth Wynwood Secondary School – Ottawa, ON
- Forest Public School – St Thomas, ON
- Holy Rosary Catholic Elementary School – Burlington, ON
- Lambton-Kent Composite Secondary School – Dresden, ON
- Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute (Secondary) – Toronto, ON
- Monsignor Morrison Public School – St Thomas, ON
- Sir Guy Carleton Secondary School – Ottawa, ON
- St John de Brebeuf Catholic Secondary School – Hamilton, ON
- St Luke Catholic Elementary School – Oakville, ON
As demonstrated by the first round of Farm-to-School Canada grant recipients, the incredible impact of Farm to School is already becoming clear. All of the schools receiving these grants will be supported through the national initiative, Farm to School Canada Digs In!, which has received over $3.5 million in investments from numerous agencies, including the Government of Canada.

Sustain Ontario and the Ontario Edible Education Network are ecstatic to see this continued support and growth for Farm to School in Canada, and we’re eager and excited to continue supporting F2CC in delivering these grants to the schools in Ontario.
