We’re a couple weeks into the school year, and that means Farm to School (F2S) Month Canada, which is celebrated throughout the month of October, is coming up fast!
Now in its fourth year, F2S Month has been initiated by Farm to Cafeteria Canada (F2CC) to celebrate all things Farm to School.
And like previous years, this F2S month presents schools with the opportunity to win a F2S grant! Any Canadian school (including preschools and campuses) that participates in F2S month and registers their activity with F2CC will be eligible for a draw to receive a grant worth $1,500 to support their Farm-to-School initiatives.
Whether your school “digs in” to a garden, farm, kitchen or cafeteria, snap a photo of your activity and register it with Farm to Cafeteria Canada to be eligible to win 1 of the 3 grants:
- One $1,500 grant is available for connecting students to local food producers such as farmers, gardeners, chefs, bakers, cheese makers etc.
- One $1,500 grant is available for engaging students in growing, cooking or preserving local foods at school
- and one $1,500 grant is available for increasing the amount of local foods served and eaten in the school or campus cafeteria or preschool
The registration deadline is Tuesday, October 31, and the draw will be held on Thursday, November 2.
Now Dig In & good luck!
