Internship position at Hearts Content Organic Farm!
Have you heard of Hearts Content? Hearts Content Organic Farm is a 57-acre organic farm right on the Trans-Canada rail trail running from Brantford to Dundas. They sell products to people in Brantford, Paris, Hamilton and surrounding areas. They grow a variety of heirloom vegetables amongst other things such as ground cherries and tomatillos. They are also interested in making their farm a permaculture site and have begun the process by growing berries, fruit and nut trees. Come farm with Heart Content Farms on our certified organic farm! Hearts Content Farms is seeking an intern with some farming experience. You’ll be involved in organic market gardening on 2 acres, care of poultry, haying, business management, community workshops, eco-tourism, medicinal and edible plant walks, tree and grounds care and preparing value-added food and herbal products. Our farm is smoke-free and drug-free.
Qualifications:
- Eagerness to learn about medicinal and edible plants, protecting farmland and reducing carbon emissions
- Must be 30 years or younger and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Assets:
- Good interpersonal skills, some farming experience, shows initiative and is organized, able to work as a team-player and independently.
- drivers license and/or own transportation preferred, aptitude for mechanical and carpentry work, social media skills
Start Date: Immediately
The position is open immediately and from immediately until the end of November (negotiable).
You must be 30 years or younger, a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to apply.
Salary: Stipend of $500/month plus accommodation, eggs and veggies!
