The Ecological Farmers of Ontario is hosting a conference on Resilient Agriculture: Our Soils, Our Systems, Ourselves which will be taking place on November 30 to December 2, 2016 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Kingston, Ontario. The conference will bring together ecological farmers (and supporters) from across the province to share ideas, learn from experts and from each other, and of course, celebrate the incredible milestones we have achieved. Some program highlights:
- Keynote address from Jeff Moyer, Executive Director of the Rodale Institute
- A series of business workshops with Richard Wiswall, author of The Organic Farmer’s Business Handbook
- Biodynamic compost expert, Bruno Follador, will host two workshops
- Low-till/no-till vegetable production with Anu Rangarajan, researcher and extension educator at Cornell University
- Janet McNally of Tamarack Sheep will speak about grass-fed lamb and raising/training livestock guardian dogs
- Tours to Patchwork Gardens and Two Rivers Food Hub
- Nut Cultivation workshop with Elisabeth Burrow of Jewels Under the Kilt
- A look at Artisanal Chicken Program Finances with Andrea Hilborn (Fat of the Land Farm) and Eric Blondin (Three Forks Farm)
- Wash-station design workshop with Jean-Martin Fortier
- Workshops on grazing cover crops, cover crop cocktails, low-till field crops, and more!
