We would like to extend a warm welcome to our three newest members: The Ontario Produce Marketing Association, The Ontario Student Nutrition Program – South West Region, and Land Over Landings.
As a member based organization, Sustain Ontario is devoted to growing our membership, expanding our reach so that we can help improve food systems across the province.
The Ontario Produce Marketing Association is a voluntary and non-for profit organization which aims to facilitate trade and enhance the marketing and promotion of fresh fruits and vegetables in Ontario. Their consumer programs include Produce Made Simple and the Learn, Live, Love Local initiative.
Ontario Student Nutrition Program (South West Region) works with school boards, public health units and community partners to provide a network of support for new and existing school nutrition programs across this region. With leading support from VON Canada, the organization works with community coordinators and local partnership committees to support just under 500 student nutrition programs.
Land Over Landings advocates for the preservation of prime farmland in North Pickering, which is under threat of the development of a new international airport. The organization emphasizes the importance of having access to local food, over the city proposed airport, factories, shopping malls, or office blocks.
