It’s not too late to register for Rad Kids‘ Urban Farm Camp, Seeds of Solidarity, July 25 – 30 in Kingston. This camp for kids 10+ will be held in the Permaculture Garden at Sydenham Street United Church in Kingston.
The day camp runs July 25 – 28 with sleepover and field trip July 29 – 30. Throughout the week, campers will explore urban places as food sites, ideas of re-wilding, foraging for wild edible plants, backyard chicken coops, and gardens. The sleepover field trip to Eel Lake will be hosted by Bob Lovelace, an Algonquin elder. Details about transportation for field trip will be provided to registered campers.
Rad Kids was started in July 2015 with the goal of building a food-secure future, by working with kids. It hopes to “root kids in agriculture” and to foster a generation of children and youth with greater food literacy, life-long healthy eating habits, increased food skills and an understanding of environmental health issues.
Seeds of Solidarity is one of four summer camps offered by Sustain Ontario member, Rad Kids. Registration is now full for the three Farm Camps on Howe Island.
