Toronto Urban Growers knows that you will be inspired by the greening stories from two Toronto secondary schools that have engaged students in innovative hands-on projects to transform their schools into an urban oasis with unique learning opportunities.  Those stories will be shared in webinars April 27 and May 3.  Presenters include Toronto District School Board teachers, David Servos and Dan Kunanec along with Katie German, Field to Table Schools Manager at FoodShare Toronto.

Learn how an underutilized roof space at an inner-city school was transformed into a thriving ½ acre rooftop garden. Hear about how the fresh produce grown by the students supplies the school’s culinary program and cafeteria. The harvest is also sold to farmer’s markets and local restaurants, providing students with a first-hand opportunity to learn about social enterprise and sustainability.

You will hear about amazing projects, from aquaponics and greenhouses to an outdoor kitchen and small scale orchard. Learn how to support your own program with large and small opportunities which will engage your students in a powerful way.
