Webinar Recap: From Bland to Delicious: Spicing Up Evaluation

On October 15th, Ryan Turnbull (President of Eco-Ethonomics Inc.) and Areeta Bridgemohan (Evaluation Associate, Eco-Ethonomics Inc.) hosted the webinar “From Bland to Delicious: Spicing up Evaluation”.
The webinar consisted of three sections. In the first section, Areeta and Ryan explained the fundamentals of evaluation and what types of evaluations are out there. They also walked you through the key terminology, myths, and benefits of evaluation. Participants indicated that this presentation was very helpful, and good to see that evaluation is an important part of learning and growing for both existing and new programs.
The second section highlighted the on-going research project of Sustain Ontario, FoodShare Toronto and Eco-Ethonomics Inc. Ryan tells you all about the joint project to enhance the evaluation capacity of the non-profit food sector, the process, and the opportunities to contribute. Lastly, there was a discussion on developing sector wide evaluation capacity. Participants were invited to take part in polls and were encouraged to share their opinions and experiences in the chat box, which were then captured in annotations on the slides. The topics varied from what organizations were already doing to evaluate their projects, to what outcomes participants of the webinar like to see from the community food work, to what kind of tools and resources would be most helpful in evaluation work.
