Peter McClusky, founder of the Toronto Garlic Festival, a Sustain Ontario member, is releasing a new book serving up garlic’s long journey from central Asia 10,000 years ago to its now-revered place in the hearts and dishes of Ontarians. In Ontario Garlic: The Story from Farm to Festival, McClusky tells this savoury story through archival research and stories including “Mike Myers and the Garlic French Toast.”
Celebrated at nine festivals across the province and available at farmers markets from May (as garlic greens) to early winter McClusky discusses the importance of buying and growing Ontario garlic from both a culinary and sustainability point of view. The book also includes growing tips and forty recipes that bring Ontario garlic from farm to festival to feast.
Ontario Garlic: The Story from Farm to Festival will be available in bookstores June 27, 2015. Pre-order online.
