The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) has officially announced the deadlines for the first round of grants in its new investment strategy. The Foundation is the largest granting foundation in Canada, awarding some $110 million in grants each year to more than 1,300 community organizations working in Ontario’s public benefit sector. The new investment strategy is the result of a 2-year review process.
Important Dates
Organization registrations from potential applicants will be accepted starting July 22, 2015.
The grant application deadlines for each stream are as follows:
- Grow Grants: Aug 26, 2015
- Seed and Capital Grants: Sept 2, 2015
- Collective Impact Grants: there are no deadlines for submitting applications and they will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
Information Sessions
More than 200 information sessions will be hosted by OTF staff province wide to outline details on the application process under the new Investment Strategy. More details on the information sessions can be found on the OTF Events Calendar. Register as soon as possible as some sessions are expected to fill up.
Andrea Cohen Barrack, CEO of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, will also be hosting a Twitter Chat next week on Thursday May 14th from 12-1 p.m. Follow the hashtag #OTFChat.
Below is an excerpt from the OTF announcement with slides from a presentation to sector leaders:
After an organization has been verified by OTF, they will have access to applications for each Investment Stream: Seed (for new ideas); Grow (for scaling up ideas that work), Capital (for community infrastructure) and Collective Impact (for bringing about fundamental change with collective action). Between now and July 22, potential applicants can visit www.otf.ca and contact OTF Support Centre to help themselves prepare for the application process. Applicants have access to: a self-assessment tool to verify grant eligibility; application templates and other support materials.
Our investment strategy is evidence based, and focussed on creating measurable, positive impact in Ontario communities. It works to make changes in six different areas: Active People, Inspired People, Prosperous People, Promising Young People, Green People and Connected People. The names of these Action Areas reflect the changes that OTF is working to see in the lives of the people of Ontario.
As we make this important announcement today, we also take this moment to celebrate this milestone with you. At OTF, the last couple of years had been a very exciting journey towards transformation. Two years later, we are more than ready to be transformed and continue to bring positive impact in communities. We appreciate each of you for your patience, input and well wishes.
