Sustain Ontario Member BADGE v2To Sustain Ontario members, supporters, and allies:

Sustain Ontario is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyn Young to the role of Director.  She will be replacing Ravenna Nuaimy-Barker, who has relocated to Geneva, Switzerland to pursue an exciting new opportunity with her family. On behalf of the Sustain Ontario steering committee, I’d like to share our gratitude for Ravenna’s immense contributions, as well as our excitement in entering a new chapter with Carolyn.

Carolyn will be leading us through our first strategic planning process.  Almost 6 years after the birth of Sustain Ontario, our alliance has grown in leaps and bounds and is ready to plan for its long term future. We have retained the services of Rhythm Communications to help facilitate this process.  We are excited about these next steps and look forward to your input on a clearer and more strategic vision.  This process is sure to bring important changes and focus for the future of Sustain by spring of 2015.

Carolyn has been a keystone in our leadership team since 2011 and has played a major role in shaping our network,  implementing our new membership strategy, stewarding in the passage of the Local Food Act, guiding the Bring Food Home planning committee, liaising with decision makers and funders, developing key campaigns such as Vote ON Food and Farming and addressing mainstream media.  We feel confident in her abilities to guide us through this next stage of planning and development.

Ravenna has guided us through an important growth phase over the past four years, establishing guidelines for our governance, leading a three year developmental evaluation process and building excitement and consensus for the Ontario Food and Nutrition Strategy and the Local Food Act.  She has been critical in building bridges across sectors to create a collaborative and functional network.

Though she has left Ontario, Ravenna will continue to advise Sustain in a part-time capacity as Director of Development during these first two months of transition.  We have been lucky to have her and she will be greatly missed.

This is an exciting time!  We look forward to deepening our collective commitment to better food systems in Ontario for years to come.

Sincerely,

Bryan Gilvesy
Chair, Advisory Council
