From Northumberlandview.ca:
Ontario is helping producers in Northumberland County and the surrounding region grow their businesses by supporting the development of an agri-food accelerator and niche food processing facility.
The province is providing $490,000 to the County of Northumberland to develop the Ontario Agri-Food Venture Centre. As a niche food processing facility, it will accommodate small batch processing, packaging and storage of foods and is meant to support second source revenues from farming operations. The focus will be on fruits and vegetables in its initial stages. The accelerator component will consist of on-site business support services in conjunction with our strategic partners and services.
The Local Food Fund and Local Food Act are part of the Ontario government’s broader local food strategy to promote the good things that are grown, harvested and processed across the province.
