Evergreen, a Sustain Ontario Member, is currently accepting applications for the position of Project Manager, Community Development:
Overview: This key member of Evergreen’s program team is responsible for the coordination and implementation of a dynamic portfolio of projects focused on inspiring action to green cities, primarily by supporting Evergreen’s Urban Agriculture programs. The Project Manager will work closely with the Community Development Manager, other staff, and project stakeholders, partners, volunteers and funders to ensure successful project delivery, with a focus on community food gardening, urban farming, permaculture design, and small space food growing.
Start date/term of position: 1 year contract, Mid-September 2014-Mid-September 2015, 4 days per week
Some Key Responsibilities include:
- Building and supporting community food growing infrastructure projects and programming across the GTA, including at Evergreen Brick Works;
- Acting as a primary point-of-contact for internal and external project stakeholders, including advisory bodies, community partners, consultants, and funders;
- Tracking and managing direct costs associated with the project budget(s);
- Managing and supporting Program Coordinators, interns, and/or volunteers assigned to the project(s).
Qualifications:
- In depth knowledge of urban agriculture and/or permaculture principles and practices, asset-based community development, landscape design (food focus), and/or environmental sustainability, acquired through post-secondary degree/diploma, training, or other equivalent experience
- 2-4 years relevant work experience in the above disciplines – prior non-profit work experience an asset
- Strong track record in community-based food and capacity building programs, particularly with respect to supporting strong and strategic partnerships
- Experience working with diverse populations including Aboriginal, seniors, youth, and newcomer Canadians
- Public and volunteer-engagement experience a strong asset
- Valid driver’s license
