Farm to School Challenge Champions Win Beautiful Prizes

The participants in this fall’s round of the Ontario Farm to School Challenge made a great effort to enhance local food in their schools. To reward them for their hardwork FoodShare thoughtfully put together Fall Harvest Packages geared to specific needs voiced by each school. The package contains a kitchen appliance of choice: food processor, crock pot, or canning kit; an immersion blender; reusable bowls and cutlery; a pot and ladles; and educational materials based on the school’s food programs. The winners also received an Ontario Farm to School Challenge certificate to post in their school for all to see.
Thanks again to all the schools that participated in the past three rounds of the Challenge (Fall 2012, May 2013, and October 2013). You truly are Farm to School champions and your projects have inspired schools across the province to start thinking about incorporating local food into their school food programs. Keep up the good work!
