From Savour Muskoka:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Culinary event to feature local chefs, local food

Field to Fork, Savour Muskoka’s annual celebration of local food and drink will once again be assembling the region’s top chefs all in one place for the culinary spectacle of the summer. Taking place Sunday, August 11 at the scenic Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh in Bala, the premier event will see the chefs serving up their finest creations for sampling.

New this year, the pop-up market will feature farmers and producers from the region selling their seasonal produce and products. After experiencing the true, pure taste characteristic of Muskoka’s food and drink, attendees will be able to meet the farmers at the market and purchase their produce for enjoyment at their home or cottage.

“We’re really excited to see what the chefs have in store for us. There’s so much culinary talent in Muskoka and when that’s paired with Muskoka’s best produce the results are something truly unique,” said Savour Muskoka Program Manager Jennifer Maloney.

“Given the relatively small, traditional farming community that still exists in Muskoka and Parry Sound it used to be difficult for a busy business owner or chef such as myself to find the fresh, local food that’s out there. Savour Muskoka has really helped to bridge that gap and allowed me to find the freshest, locally grown produce that our restaurant guests have now come to know us for” said Rocky Crest and Sherwood Inn Resorts Executive Chef, and born and raised Muskokan, Ken Schulz.

Field to Fork is also moving to a new pricing format: “Rather than paying a larger upfront fee as in previous years, tickets for entry this year are just $10 and samples will be redeemed using tokens that can be purchased at the gate,” explained Savour Muskoka Intern Neil Bodimeade.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Savour Muskoka offices at (705) 646-7118 or by visiting their website where more information and a full list of participating chefs, brewers and wineries can be found.

Savour Muskoka began in 2005 as a network of local member farmers and chefs to cultivate the appreciation and development of local food and drink in Muskoka and Parry Sound.
