Tasting Food Democracy: A People’s Food Policy for Canada
Healthy, Fair, Ecological
Monday, 8 April 2013, 5-7 pm
Centre for Social Innovation, Regent Park, 585 Dundas Street East, Toronto
Webcast: link to be active on April 8th.
An event sponsored by Food Secure Canada, the Centre for Social Innovation, Sustain Ontario, Toronto Food Policy Council, Toronto Youth Food Policy Council.
Two years ago, Food Secure Canada launched Resetting the Table: A People’s Food Policy for Canada. Together with food leaders across the country, we held kitchen table talks with over 3500 Canadians about policies needed to ensure healthy, safe, sustainable food for all.
More recently, the Canadian food industry, under the auspices of the Conference Board of Canada, has been developing a National Food Strategy and they are holding an exclusive Food Summit in Toronto 9-10 April.
Food Secure Canada thinks that a worthwhile National Food Policy needs to address hunger, fisheries, Indigenous and labour rights, children, local food, Northern issues and more. Don’t you?
On April 8th, Food Secure Canada will broaden the conversation about a National Food Policy. They want to ensure that everyone is heard.
Speakers will address what kind of policies we need to build a just, healthy, sustainable food system for all. Join us!
