From Farms At Work :

The Kawartha Farm Stewardship Collaborative will be hosting a Farm Stewardship Workshop on Saturday January 19, 2013 at the Peterborough Naval Association’s Admiralty Hall. The cost to attend the workshop is $10 and includes hot lunch as well as optional satellite mapping of your farm. The event is open to farmers and farmland owners throughout east-central Ontario.

Participants will hear from industry experts and local farmers on the practical and economic benefits of stewardship practices for farm businesses. As well, participants will learn how to create, protect and receive funding for pollinator habitat on farmland. There will be one-on-one project planning opportunities for fencing, alternate watering systems, wetland and stream restoration and nutrient management. Representatives from various agencies will be on hand to discuss the funding options available.

If you are interested in learning more about how your property and your farm business would benefit from a stewardship project, then this informative and interactive workshop is meant for you!

Pre-registration is required by January 12, 2013. For further information or to register, please contact Jay Adam from Farms at Work: jadam.farmsatwork@gmail.com, or 705-344-1760.
