The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) has released the draft document of the revised Provincial Policy Statement (PPS); The PPS provides policy direction for the entire province on matters of provincial interest in land use planning and development and recognizes the diversity of Ontario. This version is currently open for public comment on the Environmental Registry. The commenting period runs until November 23rd.

MMAH is conducting regional workshops across the province in Windsor, London, Kingston, Ottawa, Sudbury, Orillia, Thunder Bay, Toronto and Mississauga. RVSP as soon as possible if you would like to attend. For more information and details on where to RSVP, click on the PDF to the side.

We encourage all interested groups and individuals to review this PPS to see what changes have been made and where gaps still exist.

The MMAH has asked that comments be organized by these four questions:

1.   Do the draft policies provide sufficient direction to effectively protect provincial interests in land use planning?

2.   Are there additional land use planning matters that require provincial policy direction and which are not included?

3.   Do you foresee any implementation challenges with the draft policies?

4.   Is additional support material needed to help implement the Provincial Policy Statement?
