The Rouge National Urban Park has confirmed that it will retain the existing farmland in this new Toronto landmark. The 75 farms make up about 60% of the park’s expected area. (The boundaries are yet to be confirmed.) There could be some tremendous urban agriculture and demonstration farm opportunities in this huge space.

Having been defined as “A People’s Park”, the final decisions will be based on the preferences revealed from a recently launched on-line survey. With sufficiently broad support from people wishing to have fascinating demonstration farms and food education facilities conveniently within the city, this could soon become a reality. Fill out the survey before September 15, 2012.
