Powerline Films and Sustain Ontario’s Video project goes live!!
How the “seed of an idea” can turn into a seed that turns itself into a province are some of the amazing themes running through one of Sustain Ontario’s latest collaborative ventures! Â The much anticipated premiere of the first instalments of the Growing Good Food Ideas Videos Project drew a packed room at the recent “Bring Food Home” conference, held recently at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. Â The sharp set of five videos were screened by one of the producers, Simon Brothers of Powerline Films, who led a lively presentations, video screening, commentary and discussion that left many members of the audience not only moved, but inspired.
Days later Simon wrote to me: “Feedback at the conference and today has been overwhelming.”
The featured videos are comprised of stories selected by the participating partners, with creative, logistical, content and theme decisions being arrived at with a teamwork-based approach among the partners.
Powerline Films obviously takes the lead on the production side, with creative inspirations coming from a variety of sources… often arrived at with input from the people and organizations telling their own stories, each in their singular way.
The project is a joint venture between Sustain Ontario, Powerline Films and a number of municipalities and organizations from across the province, with its core funding coming from OMAFRA’S OMIF fund.
Many of those at the screenings will be sharing their impressions back home in their own communities, with the news that the project is on-going, and seeking out new partnerships. Â Municipalities such as Durham Region and Niagara and non-profit organizations such as the London Community Resource Centre and FoodShare in Toronto as well as many other entities took part in the first round. Â It’s not too late for YOUR organization to take part, too, or for you to start talking about it in your communities.
Judging by the enthusiastic and sometimes even emotional way that people at Video Launch and Networking Event at Bring Food Home responded, it is more than fair to say that these films pack power!
Here is the breathtaking title sequence used a the start of each of the films in the series.
