Powerline Films is charging up the next phase of the Growing Good Food Ideas video project, working on numerous aspects of bringing regional food stories to life using visual media.
Sustain Ontario, one of the key project partners, has previewed a handful of these snappy short films on YouTube and made them available via Facebook and Twitter. Lots of folks are looking forward to the next big thing: launching the film series at the upcoming Bring Food Home food and farming conference.
Bring Food Home: Preparing the Ground for a Sustainable Food System will be a three-day gathering at Trent University in Peterborough, October 27 – 29. It promises to be lively, educational, and an effective way of networking with those working to make Ontario’s food system safer, more sustainable, more accessible and more just. Bring Food Home will include the launch of the Good Food Ideas Videos, which will in turn include a networking session and discussion.
These videos have been months in the making, involving negotiations with project partners, planning, and lots of interesting travel across this great big province of ours.
I asked Simon Brothers from Powerline Films if the experience of shooting forced him to change any plans or assumptions that the company had before starting the project. His reply?
“I knew that local food has been developed mostly regionally up until now, but putting together this project will be truly province-wide in scale. I am just now realizing how interested everyone is in what others are up to and soon everyone will know what’s going on, right across Ontario!”
