Position: College Course Designer & Instructor (Food Policy & Trends)

Are you passionate about interactive community learning? Adept in online learning environments? Engaged in and knowledgeable about policy and political trends related to sustainable food and food security?
St. Lawrence College is looking for an instructor to (re)design and teach “CSSL 33: Food System Trends and Policy”. This online course is one of six in the Sustainable Local Food Certificate, and provides a chance to join the sustainable food movement through teaching adult learners from across the country.
JOB DUTIES:
• Develop an engaged, trenchant, and cohesive course on Food policy at the community college level (including readings, activities, assignments)
• Upload online course modules and set-up course, with some assistance
• Course instruction including mentoring, marking, and research support
• Ongoing maintenance of the course. Includes uploading course materials, updating readings, improving the course each semester, as needed.
• Ongoing communication with students via email and through the course Discussion Forum
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong experience in academic and community work in food system policy and political/food movement trends
• Demonstrable background in developing courses and curriculum, ideally online and/or food-focused.
• 1-3 years of experience in taking or instructing online courses
• An understanding of community college level courses, and the unique needs of part-time adult learners
• Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary.
• Ability to take initiative and work in a self-directed manner
This certificate is Canada-wide and we aim to have instructors from each region. Preference will be given to candidates from Central Canada and Atlantic Canada.
