Community Programs Manager (Full-time)

We are looking for a manager to oversee the programs located at our home site at 1884 Davenport Road, including the food bank, drop-in, Healthy Beginnings/family support, Community Action Project, cooking/bake oven initiatives and the volunteer program. Our ideal candidate is equally committed to social justice and food security. Is at home in a kitchen or garden and at a demonstration. Is flexible, organized and efficient and can promote high standards for our programs, bringing good ideas to them while respecting the expertise of our high-functioning staff team. Someone who can devise inclusive systems and processes without sacrificing results. A multi-tasker with a varied skill-set.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the staff team to ensure that all programs run smoothly and reflect The Stop’s mission
  • Supervise the program staff and ensure that programs meet targets
  • Help to develop and ensure implementation of evaluation strategy
  • Develop program budgetsand monitor program spending
  • Ensure that administrative and building functions run smoothly
  • Contribute to communications, as well as fundraising strategies
  • Write or coordinate grant proposals and reporting
  • Ensure regular collaboration within and between program teams, as well as with staff at The Green Barn site

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years’ experience working in a community or social services organization, with at least two in a management position
  • Demonstrated commitment to working on social justice issues and challenging inequality
  • Post-secondary degree in a related area
  • Experience working with people who experience poverty, discrimination or marginalization
  • Skilled in group facilitation and conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of issues related to poverty and food security
  • Experience writing funding proposals and reports, as well as program evaluation
  • Knowledge of social service sector and social justice initiatives in Toronto
  • Knowledge of Davenport West and ability to speak a second language are assets

Regular hours: 37.5 hrs/week Start date: April 2011
