Interviewee:John Rowe, Grass-Fed Beef Farmer and Founder of Rowe Farm John Rowe is a grass-fed beef farmer and the founder of Rowe Farms where conscious farming includes the fair and humane treatment of animals and care for the land.  John was an early adopter of grass-fed bed, starting his herd in 1968.  He believes that ‘what is environmentally best is best for us’ and this rings true through his farming and business practices. Interviewee(s): Mara Shaw & Susan Belyea of the KFL&A Food Policy Council Mara Shaw heads the non-profit organization Loving Spoonful, which enhances access to healthy food in Kingston. Her previous career in environmental engineering prepared her well for dealing with the complexities of the food system. Susan Belyea has worked and volunteered with many food security organizations in Kingston.  She was the founding director of Loving Spoonful, and helped to establish the Kingston Community Gardens Network and Urban Agriculture Kingston.  Susan has a Masters degree in Environmental Studies from York University.  She is currently pursuing a PhD on the research topic of community food systems at Queen’s University. Interviewee: Carolynne Crawley, Field to Table Schools and Wellness Senior Coordinator Carolynne Crawley is the Field to Table Schools and Wellness Senior Coordinator at FoodShare. She is passionate about reconnecting with the land and sharing her knowledge of wild edible and medicinal plants. She hopes one day this ancient knowledge becomes mainstream. Her dream is to be able to teach young people how to reconnect with the earth one plant at a time.
