Be a part of shaping the Bring Food Home 2015: Digging Deeper program – Apply to be a Session Coordinator by July 15th.

It’s time to dig deeper! The 4th Bring Food Home conference is happening in Sudbury on November 20-21-22, 2015.

The Bring Food Home planning committee is now receiving Session Proposals for the 2015 Conference Program and everyone is welcome to apply. Submit your proposal(s) via this online form.

If selected, Session Coordinators will receive a free full conference pass, $200 budget to offset session speaker costs, and written recognition in the program.  See below for full details.

Program Streams and Guiding Principles

  1. Local Food Economies
  2. Agriculture and the Environment
  3. Food Access and Justice
  4. Health Promotion
  5. Building Our Capacity
  6. Children, Youth, and Food

Interested individuals/organizations will prepare a proposal outline for a session at the Bring Food Home conference based on the topic list created by the planning committee. Click here to download a PDF of the detailed topic list.

Other session topic ideas will be received. Please note in your proposal if this topic is not one listed.

Session proposals should demonstrate their connection to the following Guiding Program Principles for Bring Food Home 2015:
● Focus on systems level change and solutions.
● ‘Dig deeper’ by asking critical questions about proposed solutions.
● Host conversations with a diversity of perspectives (sector/geography)
● Showcase Northern Ontario while maintaining a provincial scope.
● Connect people across sectors, including anyone interested change from different perspectives.

Responsibilities and Compensation

If selected as a Session Coordinator, you will:

  • Organize all details of session in collaboration with the stream coordinator, including description for program and speakers.
  • Send speaker bios and pictures to stream coordinator by September 15.
  • Ensure speakers are registered for conference before early-bird deadline. (Speakers will register at a discounted speaker registration fee.)
  • Distribute session’s $200 budget to speakers to be used for travel and/or compensation and/or to offset speaker registration fees.
  • Encourage speakers to apply for bursaries through Bring Food Home and additional funding where possible.
  • Maintain contact with speakers and communicate questions to stream coordinator.
  • Communicate any specific set-up needs to stream coordinator by September 15th.
  • Attend session at conference, distribute and collect session surveys, thank speakers (gifts provided), option to moderate/participate in session.

If selected as a Session Coordinator, you will receive:

  • Free full conference pass.
  • $200 budget for session to be distributed to speakers for travel expenses and compensation.
  • Recognition as a session coordinator in program, including your organization name if applicable.
  • The opportunity to contribute financially to session and in doing so, recognition as a session sponsor.
