Student for Good Food for All logoCommunity Food Centres Canada (CFCC), a Sustain Ontario Member, is partnering with Meal Exchange on a new project to strengthen relationships between campuses and Community Food Centres. Join Project Coordinator Michael Wagley for a webinar on Wednesday, July 30th from 12pm-1pm to learn more about the new project and a history of campus-community partnerships and their various outcomes. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions to delve further into the possible directions of the project. Register for the webinar online.

From the CFCC blog:

Since 1993, Meal Exchange has supported students to raise food and funds for food banks. The Students for Good Food for All project will allow Meal Exchange to broaden and deepen the slate of food programs they promote with students, maintaining support of programs that provide immediate access to food while also becoming involved in programs that engage people in cooking, growing and eating together and in working towards systemic change.

The Students for Good Food for All project will provide student-leaders with the tools, knowledge and support they need to:

+ gain hands-on community work skills through direct involvement at Community Food Centres
+ host events that raise awareness about the root causes of hunger in communities and on campuses
+ start the conversation with key campus partners on how the Community Food Centre model could be applied to campuses
+ bring together a national network of campus food bank coordinators engaged in expanding their programs

By participating in the project, students will become empowered leaders that contribute to building fairer and more inclusive food systems on campus and beyond.

The Students for Good Food for All project is currently recruiting student-leaders on campuses in Winnipeg, Toronto, Stratford and Perth (ON) to coordinate the project on the ground. Click here to find out more about the project and access the application form.
