Local food victories celebrated in Country Guide

The March 2014 edition of Country Guide magazine includes an article by Helen Lammers-Helps outlining the exciting progress that has been made within the local food movement across Canada over the past ten years. Read the article, “Local victory”, which references Sustain Ontario in relation to Ontario’s Local Food Act, as well as a number of our members, allies and collaborators and their great work.
The article covers a number of topics including the rise of consumer education through buy-local maps, discussions about the definition of ‘local’, the role of buying groups, and how policymakers are making room for the development of local food economies by providing more markets and promoting institutional procurement.
