The Canadian Nutrition Society is hosting two webinars:

Should packed lunches be in the past? Evidence to inform a national school food program, on Thursday, September 17, will explore current school food related research in Canada, highlighting factors affecting children’s dietary quality during the school day. Implications for a Canadian national school lunch program will be discussed, as well as findings related to a pilot universal school lunch program intervention in the province of Saskatchewan.

Attendees will hear from Claire Tugault-Lafleur PhD, RD, a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Colombia, and Dr. Rachel Engler-Stringer PhD, an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at the University of Saskatchewan.

Panel Discussion: Impacts of COVID-19 on the food supply and food access, on Wednesday, September 23, will bring together experts in economics, food insecurity, and nutrition to discuss the impacts that COVID-19 is having on the Canadian food supply and food access. This webinar will touch on how COVID-19 is affecting food prices, food availability, agriculture and food processing, local food systems, food insecurity, and potential changes in eating and shopping practices.
