On May 19th, the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO), Holistic Management Canada, and the Soil Health Coalition – Erin present a full day of workshops Exploring the Soil Carbon Sponge with Dr. Walter Jehne, internationally recognized climate scientist, soil microbiologist and innovation strategist.

The first half of the workshop will focus on practical ways that farmers can regenerate the soil carbon sponge with practices that can make their farm more resilient ecologically and economically, including practical and interactive demonstrations of ways farmers can monitor soil health. The second part of the workshop will include an interactive presentation focusing on the latest research around how regenerating the Soil Carbon Sponge can help society respond to climate change and the policies and programs that can be applied now to increase resilience and adaptation.

The day will conclude with an evening presentation discussing the power of the Soil Carbon Sponge to help address climate change, biodiversity, food nutrition, food security and improve human health. The workshops will take place at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre in Guelph. More information about the event, Dr. Jehne and registration options is available at efao.ca.
