There’s a new type of investment concept coming to Vancouver – Slow Money Investing. Slow Money is an organization and a movement that has recently been brought over from the U.S. The idea is to bring together investors and donors to direct new, “patient” sources of capital to Slow Food. That of small food enterprises, organic farms and local food systems. Conference organizer Rory Holland says that buying local is not enough and that “We need a market economy for local food. We can’t look at food as a charity or a non-profit venture”. He believes that investing local is the next step.
