National

Food Secure Canada: Food Secure Canada is a Canada-wide alliance of civil society organizations and individuals collaborating to advance dialogue and cooperation for policies and programs that improve food security in Canada and globally.

Bits & Bytes Food Security Project: Bits & Bytes was created to support the efforts of people to increase food security in their communities. There are many great resources “out there” and this website is intended to make it easier for people to find the information they need to support their own work.

Slow Food Canada: Slow Food is committed to safeguarding foods, raw materials and traditional methods of cultivation and transformation. It seeks to defend the biodiversity of cultivated and wild varieties and protect convivial places which form a part of cultural heritage because of to their historic, artistic or social value.

Beyond Factory Farming: Beyond Factory Farming is a national organization promoting socially responsible livestock production in Canada.

Canadian Organic Growers: Canadian Organic Growers (COG) is a national charitable organization with the mission to lead local and national communities towards sustainable organic stewardship of land, food and fibre while respecting nature, upholding social justice and protecting natural resources.

Local Food Plus: LFP has developed a certification system that puts economic, environmental and social issues at the forefront and addresses production, labour, native habitat preservation, animal welfare, and on-farm energy use, and leverages these standards to open new higher-value markets for Canadian farmers.

People’s Food Policy Project: The People’s Food Policy Project is a pan-Canadian network of citizens and organizations that is creating Canada’s first food sovereignty policy.

British Columbia

BC Food Systems Network: The BC Food Systems Networks works to eliminate hunger and create food security for all residents of British Columbia.

Fraser Valley Food Network: The Fraser Valley Food Network is a burgeoning group bringing together local community food tables to work together to eliminate hunger and create food security for all residents of the Fraser Region (Burnaby to Boston Bar).

Farm Folk City Folk: FarmFolkCityFolk is a not for profit society working to cultivate a local, sustainable food system. Our projects provide access to and protection of foodlands; support local growers and producers; and engage communities in the celebration of local food.

LifeCycles: LifeCycles is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating awareness and initiating action around food, health, and urban sustainability in the Greater Victoria community.

Capital Region Food and Agriculture Initiatives Roundtable – Victoria: Bringing about positive change in the food and agriculture system within BC’s Capital Region.

Alberta

Food Security Alberta: Food Security Alberta’s mission is to engage Albertans – groups, organizations, business, governments and individuals – in strategies to ensure secure access to adequate amounts of safe, nutritious, culturally appropriate food for everyone, produced in an environmentally sustainable way and provided in a manner that promotes human dignity.

Saskatchewan

Food Secure Saskatchewan: Food Secure Saskatchewan is a coalition of individuals and groups working toward, or interested in, achieving food security for all Saskatchewan citizens by way of a healthy and sustainable food system.

Saskatoon Food Coalition: This group works to ensure food security for all residents by researching and advocating for policy that will support access to an equitable, healthy, sustainable food system.

Manitoba

Food Matters Manitoba: Food Matters Manitoba is a registered charity that engages Manitobans towards healthy, sustainable and fair food for all.

Quebec

Union Paysanne: L’Union Paysanne est une organisation ouverte à tous les agriculteurs soucieux de la terre et voulant retrouver leur autonomie. (Union Paysanne is an organisation that is open to all concerned agriculturalists looking to find autonomy.)

Equiterre: Équiterre s’est donné pour mission de contribuer à bâtir un mouvement de société en incitant citoyens, organisations et gouvernements à faire des choix écologiques, équitables et solidaires. (Équiterre’s mission is to contribute to the building of a social movement by encouraging citizens, organizations and governments to make ecological, equitable and united choices.)

Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Food Security Network: The NSFSN is a network of individuals and organizations that have expressed interest in working to build food security in Nova Scotia.

Ecology Action Centre (NS): The Ecology Action Centre has acted as a voice for Nova Scotia’s environment for almost 40 years.

Newfoundland/Labrador

Food Security Network of Newfoundland and Labrador: The Food Security Network of Newfoundland & Labrador (FSN) is a provincial, membership-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to actively promote comprehensive, community-based solutions to ensure access to adequate and healthy food for all.

FEAST – Food Education Action St. John’s: FEASt is a working collective of individuals and organizations taking action on local, healthy, sustainable food issues.

PEI

PEI Food Security Network: The PEI Food Security Network is an education and action organization committed to achieving food security in Prince Edward Island.
