Call for Proposals – Urban Agriculture Summit

Toronto’s first Urban Agriculture Summit is taking place from August 15-18.  The four-day workshop is being organized by FoodShare and Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, and will feature a wide variety of workshops, panels, tours, and professional development opportunities aimed at providing attendees with the skills to advance urban agriculture strategies in their own communities.  Design professionals, community groups, social housing advocates, developers, educators, urban growers, and planners will share what is working and discover new possibilities for growing food in cities.

There is still time to submit proposals to lead a session or to provide sponsorship for this exciting event.  Proposal submissions may be submitted for the three main types of contributions – Focused Sessions, Field Workshops or Tours, and Special Skills Workshops.  The deadline for session proposals is Monday, April 2, 2012.  Applications can be sent to program@urbanagsummit.org.

Proposal Submission forms and information on Sponorship Packages are also available on the Urban Agriculture Summit website.

Toronto Timeraiser Tickets Now on Sale

We’re excited to announce that tickets are now on sale for the 9th Annual Toronto Timeraiser, a unique event that is part volunteer fair, part silent art auction, and part night on the town.  The event is happening on March 24, 2012 at the Fermenting Cellar, in the Distillery District.

How It Works

Throughout the evening, you can meet with non-profit organizations and match your skills to the organizations’ needs. Once you have made your matches, you are eligible to bid on artwork. The big twist is rather than bid money, you bid volunteer hours. If you have the winning bid, you have 12 months to complete your pledge before bringing the artwork home as a reminder of your goodwill.  Such a cool concept!

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at timeraiser.ca. In addition, a limited number of early bird tickets are available for $10. Once you have purchased your ticket online, you are on our guest list. No paper ticket necessary!
