On August 17th, 18th, and 19th, student leaders from across Canada will descend upon Hart House at the University of Toronto to discuss the Future of Food on Campus.

In preparation for hosting the National Student Food Summit 2012, Meal Exchange is currently hosting an open call for student leaders to relate their experiences in being involved with interesting and innovative student food projects. Summer Job with WEFC

Local Food Children’s Programming Assistant

The focus of this position will be to develop and manage food focused children’s activities at the Sorauren Farmers market every Monday. The candidate will also work with our Market Manager to support special event coordination and other market activities. Due to the small and innovative nature of the organization the candidate will also be expected to assist at times with other co-op initiatives and food education programming including: community kitchen programming, food preservation workshops, fundraising events, and food hub activities.

We are looking for a self starter, who has experience and enjoys working with kids, loves cooking, is passionate about food and is able to work some evenings and the occasional weekend. Read more »

Call for Proposals – Urban Agriculture Summit



Toronto’s first Urban Agriculture Summit is taking place from August 15-18.  The four-day workshop is being organized by FoodShare and Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, and will feature a wide variety of workshops, panels, tours, and professional development opportunities aimed at providing attendees with the skills to advance urban agriculture strategies in their own communities.  Design professionals, community groups, social housing advocates, developers, educators, urban growers, and planners will share what is working and discover new possibilities for growing food in cities.

There is still time to submit proposals to lead a session or to provide sponsorship for this exciting event.  Proposal submissions may be submitted for the three main types of contributions – Focused Sessions, Field Workshops or Tours, and Special Skills Workshops.  The deadline for session proposals is Monday, April 2, 2012.  Applications can be sent to program@urbanagsummit.org.
