You could be on your way to being a farmer! Learn more about Just Food and its Start-Up Farm Program at July 26 info session in Ottawa.

Blackburn Hamlet Library
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

This Sustain Ontario Member, launched its Start-Up Farm Program in 2013 to promote farming and careers in agriculture as viable options. The program offers participants access to land, shared equipment, and training to help support new farmers and to lower the risk as they enter the industry.  Start-Up Farm also offers workshops and meetings on organic certification, crop planting, marketing and sales, irrigation, farm safety and equipment use, post-harvest handling, and business planning.

There currently are 10 spots available for 2017 with a limited number of bursaries and loans available for selected participants.  Applicants must have some agricultural experience and are encouraged to have a specific direction that they want to pursue for their farm.  If you are ready to get started farming, attend the information session July 26 to see how you can benefit from Just Food’s Start Up Farm Program.
