68db42a8-4941-401b-8300-fbdb8815cd9eA stretch of Highway 38 just South of Sharbot Lake was abuzz on Sunday May 22nd, where Seed to Sausage hosted its 5th annual Day of the Pig. The event highlighted Ontario artisan food where event-goers discovered new flavours while supporting local businesses.

The event showcased 15 food and drink vendors and 20 market vendors. There was live music, cooking demonstrations and multiple pig roasts for all to enjoy.

There was no shortage of variety among the vendors. Participants had the opportunity to sip on brews from MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Co., beautiful cocktails from Cellar 82, munch on delicious kettle corn from Black Kettle Popcorn Co., sample a cheese plate from Back Forty Artisan Cheese, and finish with dessert chocolate from fine chocolate by ludwig all while enjoying the sounds of Tom Savage Music.

The event is becoming a staple in the area, drawing a big, local-food loving crowd to Central Frontenac. The consensus among the vendors and participants is that Day of the Pig is a ton of fun, a great way to meet the community and to promote local food in Eastern Ontario.

There is talk next year of moving to a larger venue which is sure to attract more vendors and bigger crowds.
