We are very pleased to announce that Sustain Ontario is working with Farm to Cafeteria Canada and the Public Health Association of British Columbia/Farm to School BC to launch a $500K Farm to School grant program, which is designed to bring more locally harvested foods into BC and Ontario schools!

Big thanks to the Whole Kids Foundation for their generous contribution in the promotion of food literacy, local food procurement and easy access to healthy, local and sustainable food  to children at schools.

This Farm to School program will bring more healthy, locally grown food into schools and provide students with hands-on learning experience, while strengthening the local food system. The program aims to empower students and school communities to make informed food choices while contributing to vibrant, sustainable regional food systems that support health of people, place and planet.

Funding is available for rural and urban, elementary, middle or secondary schools in Ontario and in British Columbia. Interested applicants can apply for up to $10,000 grants for the projects designed to engage students and community in gardening, cooking, preserving, purchasing and serving healthy local foods at school.

Grant guidelines are now posted online at the Farm to Cafeteria website and the full  grant application package will be released by January 15, 2016.
