Farmland_imageThe Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) has posted on its website “Draft Guidelines on Permitted Uses in Ontario’s Prime Agricultural Areas” for review and input until May 13, 2015.  These Guidelines are intended to help municipalities, decision-makers, farmers and others interpret the policies in the 2014 Provincial Policy Statement on the range of uses permitted in prime agricultural areas.

Two WebEx sessions will be held for OMAFRA to share highlights of the draft Guidelines and to receive comments and questions:  Thursday, April 23, 3:00 – 4:00 and Monday, April 27, 10:30 – 11:30.

Visit the OMAFRA website for recent presentations on the draft guidelines in consultation with the Ontario Farmland Trust, the Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Alliance, and the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation. See our recent post on the public consultations on the co-ordinated review of 4 provincial plans for more information.
