Sustainability Transitions: Theory, policy and practice of alternative food initiatives in Canada

Sustain Ontario members and supporters are invited to participate in a University of Guelph research project exploring the types of alternative food initiatives in Canada. The purpose of this research is to (1) identify the most significant barriers and opportunities that organizations perceive in transitioning towards a sustainable food system; (2) propose best ‘on-the-ground’ practices, as well as policy and regulatory changes that organizations believe will lead to a sustainable food system and (3) investigate regulatory “leverage points” (i.e. places where policy can affect system-wide change) that exist within Canada.

The main investigator is Ashley McInnes, a graduate student in the Department of Geography at the University of Guelph. The academic advisor for the study is Dr. Evan Fraser (Feeding9Billion). Results will contribute to the completion of the student researcher’s (Ashley McInnes) PhD program. This research project has been sponsored by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. If you choose to participate, please read the consent information below and visit the website to complete the survey.
