Help shape the future of farmland protection in Ontario!

Ontario Farmland TrustSustain Ontario member, the Ontario Farmland Trust, will be hosting its 11th annual farmland forum on March 27th, titled “Pursuing Diverse and Collaborative Approaches to Farmland Conservation”.

The Ontario Farmland Trust works to protect and preserve Ontario’s farmland by means of conservation easements, land donations, policy development, and research and education. The forum will present an opportunity to network and provide creative thought and new tools and grassroots approaches towards issues of farmland protection in Ontario.

As outlined on the Ontario Farmland Trust’s website, the forum on March 27th will include:

– Tools for communicating the importance of farmland preservation in Ontario
– Creating policy in Ontario that enables vibrant local food economies
– The new Rouge National Urban Park vision for supporting near-urban agriculture
– Development offsetting approaches being used in California to protect farmland
– Pennsylvania’s model for collaboration that has protected 500,000 acres of farmland – the largest program of its kind in the U.S.

The flyer and further details are available on the Ontario Farmland Trust’s website.

Registration for the forum can be completed online.
