UPDATE: This webinar series has a new addition! Join the NRC and Sherry Persaud, Senior Policy Advisor with OMAFRA, to learn more about the development of the government’s Food Literacy Goals with respect to local food. The 3 aspirational goals, announced this January, are part of the goal-setting process laid out in the Local Food Act, 2013.

Ontario’s Local Food Act and Food Literacy Goals” takes place on Tuesday March 31, from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm EST. Register Here!

Last Thursday, the Nutrition Resource Centre kicked off its “Unpacking Food Literacy” series with a webinar on “The Evolution of Food Skills to Food Literacy”. Head to Twitter to see some of the online discussion that opened the series at #nrc_foodlit.

If you missed the webinar, there are still two more in the series. Coming up this Thursday March 5th at 12pm, “Food Literacy and Food Skills – Stories from the Field” will include presentations from Chwen Binkley from Hamilton Public Health Services, and Lynn Roblin from the Nutrition Resource Centre. The conversation continues on Thursday March 12th at 12pm with “A Call for Improved Food Literacy”. This discussion will focus on the need for food literacy among children and youth, led by Mary Carver of the Ontario Home Economics Association. Click here to register.
