Everdale Farm WorkshopAre you interested in learning more about opening your farm for educational purposes, or for new ideas to add to your educational farm program? Explore options and get inspired at this Everdale workshop, “ABC’s of Farm-Based Education,” given by Shelburne Farms.

The workshop will take place from Saturday April 26th to Sunday April 27th 2014, and is located at Everdale Farm, in Hillsburgh. The cost of this workshop is $215, which includes materials (resource book of choice) and delicious meals.

The instructors will be: Susie Marchand, Karen Campbell & Erika Longman

The following is the tentative schedule, which is subject to change:

Saturday April 26th

8:30-9:00 Entrance Activities – Light snacks, Coffee & tea
9:00-9:30 Welcome, Announcements, Plan for the Workshop
9:30-11 Farm Introductions and activities
11:00-12:30 Market Garden tour and garden activities
12:30-1:15 Lunch
1:15-2:30 Harvest Activities
2:30-3:30 Discussion: Program Development
3:30-4:15 Make & Takes and Farm Crafts
4:15-5:15 Open time: Resource table explore, participant networking, opportunity to meet with Education staff from Shelburne Farms.
5:15 Reflection
6:15-7:30 Dinner in the Round Room

Sunday April 27th

8:45-9:30 Educator’s toolbox: teaching tips and tricks
9:30-10:15 Farm safety: engaging visitors in a safe farm environment
10:15-10:45 Activities in Round Room
11:00-12:00 Farmyard Explore!
12:15-12:45 Lunch
1:00-2:45 Activities in Round Room
3:00-4:00 Open Space: emergent conversation
4:00 Free time, Farm Tour, resources, networking, etc.
