Are you interested in food policy development and discussing its connections to public health? If so, be sure to tune in to the October 17th webinar, “Health in All; Food for All: Policy Integration and Innovation”, hosted by the Ontario Public Health Association as part of the Nutrition Resource Centre’s ‘Nutrition PACK’ webinar series. This webinar, presented by Lauren Baker from the Toronto Food Policy Council and member of the Sustain Ontario Steering Committee, will discuss advantages of linking policy and program development to improve the current food policy system.  Discussion will be focused on connecting social, economic, and environmental strategies with the goal of moving towards a unified policy integration system.  Learn how governments are adopting ‘Health in All’ policies by hearing real examples from different jurisdictions.

“Lauren Baker is the Food Policy Coordinator at the Toronto Food Policy Council, Toronto Public Health, City of Toronto. In this capacity, Lauren works with community and business partners, Toronto Public Health’s food strategy team, and across City divisions to promote a healthy, sustainable food system. Lauren has consulted widely on municipal food policy development in Canada and beyond. She has been involved in many farm to fork initiatives, and her past work includes being the founding director of Sustain Ontario – the Alliance for Healthy Food and Farming. Lauren teaches at the University of Toronto, is a research associate with Ryerson University’s Centre for Studies in Food Security, and has a PhD in Environmental Studies from York University. She is the Vice-Chair of Food Secure Canada, a national organization working towards zero hunger, healthy and safe food, and a sustainable food system. Lauren is the author of a newly published book (2013), Corn meets Maize: Food Movements and Markets in Mexico.”
