Are you a farmer in search of extra funding to start a new sustainable project on your farm? Or are you a concerned consumer seeking an opportunity to directly impact the practices of local farmers?  The Adopt-a-Farm platform offers a way for these groups to connect and support each other.

Launched in July 2013, Adopt-A-Farm acts as an online platform for farmers to reach out to the online community for project-specific financial investment.  Comparable with other online investment models, Adopt-a-Farm invites farmers to create a unique profile for their financially starved project, making sure to identify their motivations, funding goal, and timeframe.  Interested community members are then given an opportunity to “adopt” farm projects they support by offering donations to bring the project into fruition.

As described by Adopt-A-Farm, this program “is reconnecting the eaters to our farmers…placing us on the same team.  Together we are creating transparency in the food system …shedding light onto the needs of farmers to create the kinds of food people want to eat.”
