Haliburton County – A Sustainable Food System from Sustain Ontario on Vimeo.

Harvest Haliburton is a grass roots, volunteer committee that supports the development of a local sustainable food system for Haliburton County through networks, partnerships and collaboration. Harvest Haliburton’s role is to raise awareness, create supportive environments and local food policies that are necessary for a local food system. The video highlights the efforts of local producers and community organizers to promote locally grown foods. In doing so, Haliburton County is able to generate seven dollars of economic activity for every dollar spent on local food. Community organizations and local producers are also working together to develop Haliburton’s self-sufficiency to reliably provide the necessary amount of nutritious food to its community at an affordable rate.
