Northumberland’s Developing Food Charter from Sustain Ontario on Vimeo.

Northumberland County is proud to be home to a large network of community partners with diverse experiences who work to ensure that the region maintains its vibrant agriculture, including farmers, markets, grocers, community kitchens and an abundance of community gardens. This video highlights community members’ thoughts on celebrating food, environmental integrity, the importance of farmers and food literacy, and the positive economic impact of local food. We hear about the county’s Food Charter Working Group which is developing a food charter to help guide future decisions about local food. Kimberly Leadbeater, a Registered Dietician with the Northumberland County Food Charter Working Group, tells us how the county is a huge district concerned about access to healthy food for everyone, sustainable farming, and protecting the environment.
