July is salad season in Ontario and what better way to access local vegetables and fruits than directly from your local farmers.  Direct marketing is a strategy that farmers use to capture the full value of their products.  From on-line ordering to on-farm stores, to U-picks to Community Shared Agriculture (CSAs), eaters across Ontario can get a real taste of their region by purchasing directly.  Also, strategies such as CSAs allow farmers to get cash at the front end of the season when they really need it, and to share the risks and bounty of the harvest with their CSA members.  Check out some of the amazing farmer-marketers from across Ontario in these videos.
